Easy Turnip Fries {Air Fried}

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 pounds turnips

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

  • 1/3 cup pork panko

  • ⅓ cup nutritional yeast (dairy free) or grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 teaspoons black pepper

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons onion powder

  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • 2 teaspoons old bay seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley

  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

PREPARATION

  1. Peel turnips, and cut into French fry-sized sticks, about 1/3 inch by 4 inches.

  2. Place into a large bowl and toss with olive oil to coat.

  3. Pour the panko and add the seasonings to the bowl of sliced turnip “fries.”

  4. Hand rub the seasonings into the turnips, making sure to coat all sides of each turnip fry. 

  5. Sprinkle the baking soda and hand rub to seal the seasonings in.

  6. Turn air fryer to 400*

  7. Spread the seasoned turnip fries out in the air fryer tray or basket.

  8. Air fry for 10 minutes. Enjoy with a low sugar ketchup!
